Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson have learned never to underestimate the Bachelor fandom.
Following the three-hour season 28 finale that saw Graziadei, 28, pop the question to Anderson, 25, the couple opened up to Entertainment Weekly about the whirlwind experience and how they’re settling into engaged life post-show. They also addressed accidentally spoiling the season after fans identified that their TikToks and Instagram Stories were taken at the same house.
After giving fans their flowers for their sleuthing, Graziadei said: “We tried our best.”
“I was in front of a white wall. She went outside,” he added. “We are shocked that they put two and two together.”
During Monday’s season finale, Graziadei got down on one knee in Tulum, Mexico, to propose to Anderson with a heartfelt speech and a ring that captured her “radiance, uniqueness, joy and sentimental nature,” celebrity jewelry designer Neil Lane described to PEOPLE.
Now that their relationship can go public, the couple is planning a move to New York City — but not before they celebrate their engagement in Anderson’s hometown of New Orleans.
“I’m excited to celebrate our love and for everyone to meet Joey,” the junior project manager said.
On their decision to plant roots in the Big Apple, Anderson reasoned, “We’re young and I think now is the time to live in a tiny, cramped apartment together and experience it. Even if we hate it, at least we can say we did it.”
They plan on staying engaged for two to three years in order to continue getting to know each other and experiencing life together. “We want to promise our lives together, but we don’t want to rush it,” Graziadei explained. “It’s time now to enjoy this. We have the rest of our lives to celebrate it. We’re going to take it day by day and just enjoy this time.”
At the end of the finale episode, Jenn Tran was announced as the 21st Bachelorette, with her season airing later this year. She is the franchise’s first Asian-American lead.
Graziadei told EW that his biggest advice to Tran’s potential suitors is to “focus on your individual connection.”
“Especially with a lot of guys, there can be a lot of different personalities and egos coming together,” he elaborated. “Let yourself have the opportunity to create something special with Jenn. That’s better for both sides.”
