Is there a world where Bette Midler would join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? Probably not. Still, it’s fun to fantasize, and after Bette threw her hat in the ring, even Andy Cohen is entertaining the idea.
In case you missed it, Bette randomly took to X, formerly known as Twitter, the other day to share how she’d be down to join RHOBH. Although she admitted that she’d never seen the show, she said the gist of it intrigued her. After all, they do get paid to bicker, look fancy, and go to cocktail parties. Who wouldn’t want that job?
Of course, Andy heard about the A-list star’s sudden interest in the show. He took to SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live to visualize what it would be like to have Bette as part of the cast, and honestly, it’s hilarious, even in theory.
A diamond for Bette?
Andy and his co-host, John Hill, dished about the wild possibility of Bette being a part of RHOBH. Andy said he just felt lucky that Bette’s mind even stumbled upon the Bravoverse.
“I mean, how did we get so lucky? As for Miss Midler, the divine Miss M, to land her eyeballs on our universe. That’s all I could think when I saw it,” Andy admitted.
Obviously, booking Bette for Real Housewives would probably blow the budget for the entire season. On air, Andy mused about how a “superstar” like Bette would cost a ton of money. Either way, Andy predicted she would be the “grande dame of Beverly Hills in a second.”
Andy and John then started joking about how goofy it would be to see Bette caught up in some of the stereotypical RHOBH situations. How would she get along with Kyle Richards? Or, imagine a beef between Sutton Stracke and Bette? That would rock the pop culture universe for years.
When imagining a world with Bette as a diamond holder, Andy joked, “Bette FaceTimes Kyle. ‘What are you wearing? Is this white enough for the white party? What are you wearing to Garcelle [Beauvais’] barbecue?’”
John added, “They go back to Magic Mike, and Bette gets motorboated for her life.”
At first glance, casting Bette for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills seems pretty far-fetched, but stranger things have happened. Plus, the show had a rough track record recently with a string of one-and-done Housewives. Perhaps Bette is just what the 90210 needs!
