The Denver Broncos haven’t had a solid quarterback since Peyton Manning.
They thought they had finally found one in Russell Wilson, and while he played well in his second season, it still wasn’t enough to justify his big salary.
HC Sean Payton never seemed to like him, and he didn’t hesitate to cut ties with him as soon as he got an opportunity to do so.
Now, the Broncos are doing their due diligence in the NFL Draft to find a new gunslinger.
With that in mind, GM George Paton revealed that they’re looking for a player who has that ‘it’ factor, someone who can uplift his teammates’ level (Via Zac Stevens).
The Broncos want their QB to have the 'it' factor:
“We’re also searching for the ‘it’ factor. Who can raise the level of his teammates? That’s really hard to find. Sometimes you don’t know it until you have it. That’s what we’re all searching for.” — George Paton

Then again, Paton admitted that they wouldn’t know whether a player had that kind of trait until they saw it.
There’s never a sure thing when it comes to the NFL Draft, and especially not at the quarterback position.
For the past couple of weeks, they’ve been linked with Michigan star J.J. McCarthy, who’s been the quickest and most notorious riser in this year’s draft.
Then again, they might have to trade up and get him, and that might not be the wisest decision.
The Broncos have plenty of needs and holes to fill on their roster at this moment, so giving up multiple assets to get just one player might set them back even further, as they need as many cheap players as they can get because of their complicated salary cap situation.
