Candiace Dillard Bassett and Gizelle Bryant aren’t in sync, and the Real Housewives of Potomac reunion proves it.
The reality stars have been feuding since Season 6. After Gizelle told others that Candiace’s husband, Chris Bassett, forced her into a hotel room to chat, things began to go downhill.
During one part of the April 1 episode, Candiace and Gizelle finally confronted each other over some of their comments. “As I have watched the show, it’s, ‘F*ck Gizelle,’” the OG noted about Candiace. “‘Gizelle’s an imp [and] the devil. Gizelle is evil [and a] raggedy ass. Gizelle should be fired.’” Candiace replied, “All true.” But did her comments create a bigger issue?
Is Candiace responsible for Gizelle receiving death threats from watchers?
Gizelle stated throughout the season that she felt Candiace’s social media tactics led to her receiving death threats from the show’s fans.
“Everyone up here, I believe, has received some form of a death threat. I think it is dangerous and extremely unfair to conflate me having an issue with her, with her then receiving death threats,” Candiace said.
Later, she confessed to host Andy Cohen that she had “liked some tweets” about her co-star. However, she likened that to Gizelle speaking poorly about her on her podcast. “It’s no different than her going on her podcast and talking about me laughing and joking and adding sauce to a rumor.”
Candiace and Gizelle won’t have to worry about being friends for next season. The Drive Back singer announced her departure just after the RHOP Season 8 finale.
“As I embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with The Real Housewives of Potomac, I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth and moments of introspection that have defined this journey,” Candiace said.
She continued, “With a whirlwind of new opportunities and responsibilities on my plate, I have decided to take a break from RHOP.”
