Former RHOBH star Annemarie Wiley is shutting down claims that she and her husband, Marcellus Wiley, are transphobic.
On Tuesday’s episode of Carlos King’s Reality with the King podcast, Annemarie Wiley denied reports that many of her personal life scenes on season 13 of RHOBH were cut due to her husband’s transphobia and conservative political views.
“I am so happy to address that,” the now-fired RHOBH star said. “Calling someone transphobic is very hurtful, disgusting, and damaging.”
The 40-year-old insisted that “no one is transphobic” and that she supports trans rights, the trans community, and women’s sports.
However, she did confirm that she and her husband have an issue with transgender women playing against cisgender women in sports due to their physical differences.
“My husband’s stance on it is that he is not in support of it, and he’s in support of there being safe spaces for everybody, and I agree with that,” she said.
She then claimed that she was “badgered” and “attacked” by her RHOBH castmates due to their views.
Last year, Marcellus caused a stir after he shared his opinions on transgender athletes.
The former NFL star has been very vocal about his feelings surrounding the transgender community. On his YouTube channel and podcast, Marcellus went on a rant about basketball star Dwayne Wade’s Transgender daughter. He also made it known that he doesn’t support Transgender women competing in sports against natural-born women like his daughters.
“I have no issue with transgenders. I do have an issue with athletes who are transgendered trying to participate going from a transition of a man to a woman and now playing with the women,” Marcellus tweeted in January. “And, I will say that. You all can try to Dave Chappelle me all you want. I am very clear on this. You can be a transgender. You can be the homie, but I’ll be damned if a male at birth turns into a female and tries to compete against my daughters. She ain’t out there. We out.”
He continued, “Why can’t the dudes who transition to women actually empower women by competing against men?”
“I do have an issue with athletes who are Transgender women trying to compete against biological women. Not against the Wiley Women!” he added
On March 21, Annemarie announced that she had been fired from RHOBH ahead of season 14.
Via Instagram, the RHOBH newbie shared:
“I just got word today that I will not be returning to “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
To say that I’m disappointed is an understatement.
I never auditioned for this show. The show found me and asked me to be on it out of the blue 6 weeks after the cast had already started filming. I was thrown into filming 2 weeks later, mid-season. I was very excited about the opportunity, and I thought following exactly what I was instructed to do throughout filming last season was the way the “game was played.” Listening to what I was instructed to do was my rookie mistake. What I am disappointed about is that the fans never got to see the real me or even a glimpse of my unique life story… Contrary to what was shown on TV, I am not obsessed with the esophagus! LOL
What I am is a woman, a proud black woman, who is truly blessed with a wonderful strong black man as my husband who lifts me and our four wonderful children up with so much love and positivity on a daily. It was an important mission of mine for the next season to show a solid black family unit and that “true black love” exists, even in Beverly Hills… my struggle with losing my mother to lung cancer within weeks of taping, and my struggle with adoption trauma and what was going to be, and still will be, a new life journey for me to find my biological parents.
All of which was taped, but never shown last season…among other things.”
Production for season 14 of RHOBH reportedly begins in April.
