Sanya Richards-Ross is leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta following two seasons on the show.

Fans have speculated for a while that Sanya wouldn’t be back for season 16 of RHOA. The rumblings then seemed like a fact when it was made official that Marlo Hampton would no longer be on the show. Now, Andy has confirmed the news.

Sanya joined RHOA for season 14 of the show. She’s also known for being an Olympic runner. During her time on the show, fans got to know her husband, Aaron Ross, and their son. Sanya and Aaron also recently welcomed a new bundle of joy.

On March 14, Andy was talking about RHOA on Andy Cohen Live and asked guest Mariah Smith how she felt about Kandi Burruss, Marlo, and Sanya leaving the show.

“How do you feel about Kandi, Sanya, and Marlo leaving the show?” Andy asked Mariah, as seen in a clip shared on X by the @LouandReality account.

The thing is that this is the first time it has officially been confirmed that Sanya will not be back. It’s almost like they forgot to make a real announcement. 

Sanya has yet to make a public statement about her exit from the show. For the most part, fans seem to be pleased with her departure. Though Sanya seems like a great person, she never really fit in on the show. As it has been pointed out, she could never hold her own with the likes of Kenya Moore and often fell flat in scenes.

There are still no official announcements for who, besides Porsha, will be on season 16 of RHOA. However, it’s heavily rumored that Kenya and Drew will be returning as full-time Housewives. The rumor is also that Sheree will be back as a ‘friend of.’ There are reports that filming for the new season has started. If all goes right, season 16 could be a rebirth of sorts for the show. In many ways, this is a make-or-break season. Only time will tell how it turns out.
